Transparency Pruning

This pruning method was developed and refined over time by Princess Sturdza. It is one of the main features of this garden.

Transparency

Respectful of plants and their natural shapes, and based on a careful observation of each one, it allows light and rain to pass through the plant beds, promoting regeneration and the coexistence of a wide variety of plants. It brings lightness, transparency, and resistance to wind and storms while also ensuring a more even distribution of blooms.

For several years, Dominique Cousin has been in charge of pruning at Vasterival, where he makes trees and shrubs “transparent” according to these principles, which he explains during his pruning courses, supported by practical exercises.
