HELLEBORES
Hellebores argutifolius was certainly one Princess G. Sturdza’s favourites for its early blossoming (as early as January), its evergreen bright and shiny floliage, its bushy aspect and its ability to sow easily and form beautiful colonies. She also loved her great selections of winter roses, of which H. niger ‘Maxima’ flowers at the beginning of November, and many others from the most outstanding nurseries worldwide, their seedlings creating a lovely ground cover under the hamamelis and magnolias from February to early May.
