RHODODENDRONS
A whole section of the garden is dedicated to more than 700 rhododendrons, some over 10m high with spectacular flowers, stem architecture and barks all year round. Large leaf varieties, such as R. rex, R. fictolacteum, R. hodgsonii, have been added to the collection accompanied by numerous azaleas with impressive autumn colours. Different pontic rhododendrons, all selected by Princess G. Sturdza, form many of the garden’s hedges. The earliest flowering rhododendrons (‘Christmas cheer’) start in December and the latest (‘Polar Bear’) finish toward the end of September.
